About Connect Four

Drop red discs into a 7-column board and connect four before the yellow CPU does. The board is 6 rows × 7 columns and pieces always fall to the lowest empty cell in the selected column.

The CPU first tests for an immediate winning move, then an immediate player win to block, then prefers columns [3,2,4,1,5,0,6]. Win detection checks horizontal, vertical and both diagonal directions for at least four connected discs.

How to Play Connect Four

1Click any non-full column during Red's turn.

2Build lines while watching for CPU threats that could connect four next turn.

3Connect four red discs horizontally, vertically or diagonally before the CPU connects yellow.

Connect Four Rules

  • Players alternate Red human and Yellow CPU turns.
  • A full column cannot accept another disc.
  • If the top row becomes completely full without a four-in-a-row, the game is a draw.

  • Results are session-only; this runtime does not save wins or match history.

Tips & Strategies

  • Control the center columns because the CPU also prefers them after immediate tactical checks.
  • Create two threats that cannot both be blocked in one CPU move rather than relying on a single obvious three-in-a-row.
