About Speed Math
Speed Math is a short multiple-choice mental arithmetic game. Problems rotate among addition, subtraction and multiplication, with ranges chosen so answers stay practical for rapid calculation.
Only correct answers increase score. A wrong choice briefly highlights both the mistake and the correct answer, then the game continues without subtracting a point.

Speed Math Game Mechanics
Objective
Answer as many addition, subtraction and multiplication questions correctly as possible in 30 seconds.
Round End
The round ends automatically when the 30-second timer reaches zero.
- Addition uses two values from 1–50; subtraction keeps the result non-negative; multiplication uses factors from 2–13.
- Every problem shows four answer choices: the correct result plus three unique non-negative distractors within roughly ±10.
- A correct answer advances after 200ms; a wrong answer waits about 500ms while showing the correction.
- Best score is saved in localStorage under sm-best.
Tips & Strategies
- For multiplication, recognize common 2–13 times-table products rather than recalculating from scratch.
- On subtraction, scan the larger number first; the generator always creates a non-negative result.
- A wrong answer costs time rather than score, so do not freeze on one difficult question for too long.
