About Plant Defense

Plant Defense uses a five-lane defense layout with an 8×5 placement grid. The three plant types have deliberately different jobs: resource generation, ranged damage and blocking.

The game becomes harder by shortening spawn intervals and increasing zombie health and speed as the wave number rises.

How to Play Plant Defense

1Choose Sunflower, Shooter or Wall from the shop.

2Tap an empty lawn cell; the plant is placed only if you have enough sun.

3Use Sunflowers to generate more sun, Shooters to attack zombies in their row and Walls to absorb damage.

4Keep every zombie from crossing the left edge while building score in 10-point kills.

Plant Defense Rules

  • Sunflower and Wall each cost 50 sun; Shooter costs 100.
  • Only one plant can occupy a grid cell.
  • Each zombie defeated is worth 10 points.
  • If one zombie reaches the left edge, the entire run ends.

Plants, Sun and Score

ActionCost / RewardHow it works
Sunflower50 sun3 HP and produces +25 sun every 200 update ticks.
Shooter100 sun3 HP and fires every 60 ticks when an enemy is ahead in the same row.
Wall50 sun10 HP and blocks enemies without shooting.

Plant Defense Game Mechanics

Objective

Spend sun on plants across an 8×5 lawn and stop zombies from crossing any of the five rows.

Round End

The run ends immediately when any enemy moves past the left edge of the lawn. Tap the lawn after Game Over to reset.

  • The lawn has 8 columns and 5 rows. Each cell can hold at most one plant.
  • A falling sun token is created every 180 ticks, but the current code does not provide a collection handler for those drops; reliable sun income comes from Sunflowers.
  • Enemy spawn interval is max(60, 180 − 15 × wave); enemy HP and speed also rise with the wave.
  • The wave number rises after score reaches each 100-point threshold.
  • Best score is saved in localStorage under plant-defense-best; the current board, sun and wave are not persisted.

Tips & Strategies

  • Establish Sunflowers before filling every lane with expensive Shooters; otherwise the initial 50 sun cannot fund much defense.
  • Walls have 10 HP versus 3 HP for the other plants, so place them where they can buy Shooters extra firing time.
  • Because Shooters only fire when an enemy is ahead in the same row, distribute them across threatened lanes rather than stacking one row.
