About Pong

This Pong implementation is a single-player match against a CPU paddle. A point is awarded whenever the ball exits behind the opponent, and the first side to seven wins.

Rallies become progressively faster because every paddle collision multiplies horizontal velocity by 1.05, with an absolute speed cap of 12.

How to Play Pong

1Move the left paddle vertically with mouse or touch.

2Meet the ball before it exits the left side.

3Use different paddle contact positions to change the ball's vertical angle.

4Score seven points before the CPU.

Pong Rules

  • First to 7 wins.
  • Each miss awards the opponent 1 point.
  • Paddle returns increase horizontal speed by 5% until the speed cap.
  • The CPU automatically tracks the ball.

Pong Game Mechanics

Objective

Control the left paddle against a CPU and become the first side to score 7 points.

Round End

The first side to 7 points wins; tapping the canvas after the result starts a fresh 0–0 match.

  • Every paddle return multiplies horizontal ball speed by 1.05, up to a coded absolute speed cap of 12.
  • Where the ball hits the paddle changes vertical velocity, allowing flatter or steeper returns.
  • The CPU paddle moves toward the ball at a fixed maximum speed of 3.5 per update.
  • Scores are not persisted after a page reload.

Tips & Strategies

  • Stay near the projected ball path rather than following every vertical bounce after it happens.
  • Hit away from the paddle center when you want more vertical movement in the return.
  • As rally speed increases, smaller corrections are safer than sweeping from one edge to the other.
