About Gravity Flip

Gravity Flip is a one-action obstacle game where movement comes from reversing gravity instead of jumping. The player stays at a fixed horizontal position while obstacles travel from right to left, so every tap changes the vertical path you will take through the next gap.

A gravity flip does two things at once: it reverses the gravity direction and resets vertical velocity to zero. The player then accelerates at 0.5 per update toward the new direction. Obstacles spawn every 70 frames with gaps between 90 and 130 pixels, and later obstacles are assigned higher speeds as your score rises.

How to Play Gravity Flip

1Tap, click, or press Space once to start the run.

2Use another tap whenever you want to reverse gravity from down to up or from up to down.

3Guide the square through the open gap in each incoming obstacle.

4Keep passing obstacles for points; touching an obstacle outside the gap ends the run.

Gravity Flip Rules

  • Passing one obstacle awards 1 point.
  • Each gravity flip reverses direction and resets vertical velocity to zero.
  • New obstacles appear every 70 frames with random 90–130 pixel gaps.
  • Obstacle speed at spawn is 3 + score × 0.04.
  • Colliding with an obstacle outside its gap ends the run immediately.

Gravity Flip Scoring

ActionPointsHow it works
Obstacle passed+1A point is awarded once the obstacle moves completely behind the player's x-position.

Gravity Flip Game Mechanics

Objective

Flip gravity at the right moments to guide the player through moving obstacle gaps and survive for the highest score.

Round End

The run ends when the player's square overlaps an obstacle outside its open gap.

  • Each tap reverses gravity direction and resets vertical velocity to zero before acceleration begins in the new direction.
  • Gravity acceleration is 0.5 per update toward the active direction, while the player is clamped to the top and bottom boundaries.
  • New obstacles appear every 70 frames with a random gap between 90 and 130 pixels.
  • Obstacle speed is set to 3 + score × 0.04 when each obstacle is spawned, so later obstacles enter faster.
  • The highest obstacle-pass score is saved in localStorage in the current browser.

Tips & Strategies

  • Flip before the gap reaches you rather than reacting only when the player is already beside the obstacle; gravity needs time to build vertical movement.
  • Use the velocity reset intentionally. A flip cancels existing vertical speed before acceleration changes direction, which can help stop an overshoot.
  • Avoid unnecessary rapid flips. Every input changes the next vertical arc, so extra taps make your position harder to predict.
  • Expect less reaction time later in a run because newly spawned obstacles move faster as score increases.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you control Gravity Flip?

Tap, click or press Space to reverse gravity. Each flip also resets the player's vertical velocity to zero.

How do you score in Gravity Flip?

You earn 1 point each time an obstacle moves behind the player after you successfully pass through its gap.

Do obstacles get faster in Gravity Flip?

Yes. Each new obstacle is assigned speed 3 + score × 0.04 when it spawns, so later obstacles move faster.

How large are the obstacle gaps?

Each obstacle receives a random gap between 90 and 130 pixels when it is created.

Does Gravity Flip save a best score?

Yes. When you beat the previous best, the new score is stored in localStorage in the current browser.
